The IT-BPM outsourcing industry is one of the bright spots that fuel the sustained growth of the country’s economy. As more businesses select the Philippines as an offshore and outsourcing destination, the industry finds itself in rapid expansion. In order to support the IT-BPM’s growth, Jones Lang La Salle (JLL) have called for more offices that are “ready for occupancy”, be created to serve the influx of new businesses investing on offshore operations in the country.
“It is expected that by 2020 the demand side of the [global] market will grow by $250 billion and if the Philippines can just get 20 percent of that, which is 50 billion; today we’re at $23 billion,” JLL Philippines Regional Director Sheila Lobien was quoted by the Manila Times during the Newspaper’s 6th Business Forum held at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City last week.
In the past three administrations that occupied the executive branch, the country’s real estate and infrastructure industry have also experienced tremendous growth through the creation of numerous economic zones and BPO friendly hubs across the country. With buildings being fashioned for business use and are available for leasing, the spaces are quickly being placed under tenancy by offshore companies, shared service center providers and serviced office brokers.
Currently, “64 percent increase in supply [and] despite the number of office space that you see when you go out … it’s being taken up,” said Lobien.
One emerging city is Taguig’s Bonifacio Global City and its neighboring counterpart, McKinley Hills that are primed to be the country’s most modern business hubs to date.
“Bulk of the office projects are in the Bonifacio Global City. Because a lot of developments are actually there,” Lobien also said.
Quezon City, Ortigas, Mandaluyong, North EDSA, Makati, Bonifacio Global City-Taguig, McKinley Hills and Pasay are among the prime office locations of Manila where business grade buildings house offices that are ready for occupancy — something that most offshore companies are looking that enables them to quickly start operations.
Aside from the infrastructure advantage, the country also boasts of highly skilled professionals in IT, customer management and information specialists whose salary brackets are considered competitive with the blueprint of skilled personnel sourcing.
