Due to the increase, past reports already said that office takeup is also increasing in other parts of the Philippines. According to Sunstar.com, the two buildings are reported to be worth P221 million. It was being constructed for offices under the BPO industry within the compound of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (Zamboecozone) in the village of Talisayan. Specifically, the building will house call centers, medical transcription companies and more.
Described the progress of the construction, Zamboecozone Chairperson and Administrator Christopher Lawrence Arnuco said the progress of the two edifices are already 20-percent complete. He said they target to finish the two buildings within the second quarter of 2019.
Arnuco said companies who want to invest in Zamboecozone will be able to find a huge leasable space available. He said there is an 8,000-square-meter leasable lot available to BPO companies who want to start their operations in the area, which is seen as the new wave city for BPOs.
The Zamboecozone is the economic hub mandated through Republic Act 7903, which became a law on February 23, 1995. It’s the only Freeport in Visayas and Mindanao and has industrial parks to house different kinds of businesses, information technology, call centers, processing plants, shopping centers, hotels, and retirement centers and hectares of logged-over forests suitable to be developed into agro-forestry and eco-tourism parks and projects.
